Hello, my name is Shaun, I am 29 and will be 30 this year. I stay in North of Glasgow and currently receive support to live independently from Community Lifestyles. I thought it would be nice to share some of the things I have been up to.
One of my many passions is learning. So, in 2022 with the encouragement of the managers of my support, I started a short course on accessibility and the practice of making websites and blogs useable by as many people as possible.
During this course I started to make a blog on stress and the well-being benefits of mindfulness which mostly involves going for walks outside in nature. There are many places to go walking around my home which I enjoy very much. These can take anywhere from half an hour to two hours to do.
In making this online digital artifact I encouraged myself to look beyond myself to understand the differing needs of others, ensuring there were no barriers that prevented interaction with, or access to, the blog for as many people as possible, regardless of age or disabilities.
Along with doing this course I am currently in the final stages of completing an Open Diploma of Higher Education. When I have completed this, I am looking to complete a Social Care qualification.
For my down time I enjoy using my 3D printer and I am in the process of building a Robotic Hand. The tricky part is working with the service motors to have them coincide with the hand movements.
