The Advisory Group was established in 1996. It was originally set up by Key to enable people with learning disabilities to have a stronger voice in the services they use, and in their local communities.
In 2012 The Advisory Group became a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation whose main aims are to:
- Promote the gifts and talents of people with learning disabilities
- Break down the barriers of discrimination
- Help make a more inclusive Scotland.
The Advisory Group has a service level agreement with Key to ensure that the organisation’s direction continues to be shaped by the experiences and views of people with disabilities. Two members of National TAG sit on Key’s Board and once a year TAG and the Board come together to review and develop aspects of the strategic plan. This year’s strategy meeting focused on Quality Assurance and the role TAG plays in supporting people to assess the quality of services in each local area. TAG works closely with Key’s Participation and Inclusion team.
